Winter weather update for Friday in North Texas

DALLAS (KDAF) – The National Weather Service Center in Fort Worth reports that more counties have been added to the winter weather advisory for North Texas. Accumulations of up to 1/2 inch of snow/sleet and light icing are expected for the counties affected by the advisory.

Those counties from Thursday afternoon are Bowie, Sherman, Paris, Denton, Greenville, Jacksboro, Cisco, Stephenville and Hamilton. NWS Fort Worth advises that roads and driveways could become slippery, dangerous travel is possible, especially with bridges and overpasses.

NWS Fort Worth also posted this update, “Locations expecting up to 1/2 inch of snow/sleet have been expanded to west of CTX and northeast of NTX. Decreasing accumulations and impacts are expected as you move southeast/south, with only cold rains expected in the south.

Along with these updates, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., North and Central Texas counties will be subject to a wind advisory on Friday. “Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are possible. Secure all loose outdoor objects and be careful when driving large vehicles! »
