WEATHER UPDATE: Tornado and severe thunderstorm warning


THE WOODLANDS, TX – The National Weather Service continues its constant stream of weather updates for the Woodlands area. Currently, a tornado warning has been issued for East Montgomery County – extending into Liberty County – with Porter Heights, Huffman and New Caney on alert until 9:30 a.m. Areas currently subject to the warning can also expect the possibility of pea-sized hail. The previously issued tornado warning for northern Harris County / southern Montgomery County expired at 8:45 am this morning.

In addition, a large line of severe thunderstorms crosses the Woodlands area, bringing with it high winds and rain. Lightning was observed in the areas of Conroe and the Bush Intercontinental Airport, effectively framing the reach of Woodlands Online.

A tornado watch was also issued for the Woodlands area until 4:00 a.m. this afternoon. With a Tornado Watch, tornadoes are possible in and near the surveillance area. Review and discuss your emergency plans and check supplies and your safety room. Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or if you suspect a tornado is approaching.
