Weather Update | Heavy rains are expected to hit parts of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the coming days, IMD said on Wednesday.

The southwest monsoon is expected to retreat further from some other parts of northwest India and parts of neighboring central India over the next two to three days, the Indian Meteorological Department predicted on Wednesday ( IMD).

However, strong spells are likely to occur over the southeastern peninsular region including parts of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

“Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rains with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms/lightning most likely over Andhra Pradesh coast and Yanam, Telangana and Rayalaseema from 28-30 (September); Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Karaikal on 28-29 and Northern Interior Karnataka on 29-30 September 2022,” IMD said in a press release.

Andhra Pradesh

The whole state including Anantapuramu, Prakasam, East Godavari and Vishakhatapatam districts are on yellow alert and are at risk of thunderstorms and heavy rains.

Telangana

IMD has predicted heavy rains in Medak, Adilabad, Vikarabad, Jogulamba, Nalgonda, Siddipet, Warangal and Khamman among other districts in the state.

Tamil Nadu

Vellore, Thiruvanamalai, Villupuram, Ariyalpur, Thanjavur and Nagapattinam are expected to experience heavy rains on Wednesday. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in other regions.

West Bengal

The entire state except Uttar Dinapur is likely to witness thunderstorms and lightning as per IMD warnings.
