New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted pleasant weather in Delhi for Monday (May 30) “The sky will be partly cloudy and there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in the city on Monday,” said the head of IMD, by PTI. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 41 and 28 degrees Celsius.
The monsoon will progress in Kerala, Karnataka and parts of the Bay of Bengal
The southwest monsoon set in on Kerala on Sunday, three days ahead of its usual date of June 1, marking the start of the four-month rainy season which is crucial for India’s agricultural economy.
“Conditions are favorable for a further advance of the southwest monsoon in parts of the central Arabian Sea, boring parts of Kerala, other parts of Tamil Nadu, parts of Karnataka and other parts of southern and central Bay of Bengal, parts of northeastern Bay of Bengal and northeastern states over the next 3-4 days,” the MeT department said.

Kerala has been receiving rainfall since Saturday and 10 of the state’s 14 weather monitoring stations have received more than 2.5mm of rain, fulfilling the criteria for the onset of the monsoon, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said. .
However, as the monsoon progressed over Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu, the arm of the Bay of Bengal weather system was slow as it continued to linger just above the Andaman Islands.
IMD issues yellow alert in Uttarakhand
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain, lightning and high winds in various districts of Uttarakhand on Sunday and Monday. The weather forecast agency said Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand will receive heavy rains today and tomorrow.
“Light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorms are likely to occur at many locations in various districts of Uttarakhand. Very light to light rainfall or thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated locations, especially in districts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh,” Uttarakhand IMD said.
Jammu and Kashmir weather update
On Monday, May 30, the Meteorological Service predicted partly cloudy weather with light rain/thunderstorms over the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir. “Partly cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain/thunderstorms in the afternoon is likely for the next 24 hours at J&K,” department officials said.
