Warmer temperatures for the work week

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – High afternoon temperatures will range from around 80 to 85 degrees Monday through Friday, with partly cloudy skies. A parasitic shower is possible in the WBTV viewing area on Mondays, but most people will stay dry all week. A cold front will cross the Carolinas on Saturday, bringing our next best chance of patchy rain showers.

  • Hot and dry Monday to Friday.
  • The cold front brings scattered rain showers for Saturday.
  • Cooler temperatures from Sunday to next week.

The sky will be partly to mostly cloudy this evening, with nighttime temperatures of around 60 degrees for Charlotte and 50 to 50 degrees for the mountains.

Partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures will continue for the week ahead, with a possible downpour for Monday. Monday afternoon there will be high temperatures around 80 degrees for Charlotte and the Piedmont, and lower temperatures in the mountains.

Mainly sunny to partly cloudy skies develop from Tuesday to Friday, with morning temperatures in the lower 60s and high afternoon temperatures between the 80s and averages. Mountains can expect afternoon peaks between the low to mid 1970s.

A cold front will cross the region on Saturday, bringing our next best chance of rain showers and scattered thunderstorms. At this point, Saturday doesn’t look like a wash, but you might need a rain jacket or an umbrella for a little while. Saturday will remain warm, with high afternoon temperatures between the low and mid-80s.

On Sunday, the skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with afternoon high temperatures in the 70s for the Charlotte metropolitan area and the foothills, and 60 for the mountains.

Cooler temperatures are expected next week, with a more autumnal feel.

For the tropics, we are watching a low off the Outer Banks. This system is not likely to get tropical, but it will continue to create a rough surf for the beaches along the Carolina coast and provide a few transient rain showers.
