Rain swept over parts of Mumbai on Saturday morning, relieving the population of the humidity. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said the city would experience “mostly cloudy skies with moderate rainfall,” ANI reported.

The Mumbai Regional Meteorological Center has predicted moderate rains in the city and suburbs with the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated locations over the next 24 hours, ANI reported.

IMD also forecast moderate rains in Mumbai and the suburbs with the possibility of occasional heavy spells, over the next 48 hours.

IMD predicted a “thunderstorm with lightning” in the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra on Thursday from September 4. IMD predicted similar conditions in isolated parts of northern Vidarbha on September 3.

Thunderstorms likely affected all of Marathwada, parts of Madhya Maharashtra, the coasts of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg and Gadchiroli in eastern Maharashtra on September 4. Similar conditions would prevail, with minor variations, on September 5, the Regional Meteorological Center said. The northern districts of Jalgaon, Dhule and Nashik have received heavy rains over the past two days, causing flash floods in some tehsils.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Delhi on Tuesday following heavy and continuous rains in the nation’s capital. Parts of Delhi have also experienced severe congestion, affecting traffic.
