Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai Division said on Wednesday that in the next 5 days light to moderate rainfall is expected in Konkan and Goa region. Jayanta Sarkar, Chief, IMD Mumbai said today that seasonal monsoon rainfall is expected to be normal.
While rainfall is expected in Goa and Konkan regions, other parts of Maharashtra will also receive light rainfall.
“Seasonal monsoon rainfall is expected to be normal. 99% rainfall is expected. Start of monsoon in Kerala expected on May 27. Over the next 5 days, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Konkan and Goa region Other parts of the state will also receive light rainfall,” the head of IMD Mumbai was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep over the next five days, the meteorological service said today.
Squalls with winds reaching 40 to 50 km/h and gusts to 60 km/h are expected over the southwest Arabian Sea over the next five days and over the Arabian Sea and adjacent coast of Gujarat between Friday and Sunday.
Maximum temperatures in parts of eastern and central India are not expected to change significantly today, and a gradual increase of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius is expected thereafter, he said. .
