KLBK Tuesday Morning Weather Update: July 12, 2022 | KLBK | KAMC

LUBBOCK, Texas – KLBK meteorologist Jack Maney has your Monday morning weather update!

Today: Slightly less warm, with a few thunderstorms in the west and north late this evening. Top of 98°. ENE winds 15-20 MPH.
This evening:
A sweet night. Minimum of 72°. SE winds 12-18 MPH.
Another hot day, some possible pop up storms. 98° high. SE winds 12-18 MPH.

A weak cold front arrived this morning and brings us a very slight cooling this morning with northerly winds that will turn slowly to the east during the day. This front is primarily driven by flow from a decaying overnight thunderstorm complex in the TX and OK beggars. The cooldown will be very light and today’s highs will still hit the upper 90s and lower 100s. A few thunderstorms will be possible to the west and north this evening as a storm complex moves up from the mountains of New Mexico. These will die just as they reach the state line, and the chance of rain is best in our farthest northwest corner near Clovis. Lubbock will most likely stay dry today.

Today’s forecast
Chances of rain today

Temperatures will fall to the low to mid 70s tonight. Some moisture will persist tomorrow, enough to keep the potential for rain low in the forecast with a few isolated thunderstorms possible late Wednesday afternoon. Other than a slight 10% chance of storms, we will remain mostly dry and warm tomorrow with another high of 98 degrees.

The high altitude high will keep us warm and especially dry this week.

The remainder of the week will be calm and uneventful with upper level high pressure continuing to sit overhead and favoring warm weather. dry weather. The triple digits will come back by Thursday, and then they’ll be here to stay all weekend. Apart from a few isolated storm hazards here and there, the scorching days of summer seem to have arrived a little early this year. Remember your heat safety precautions if you plan to spend time outdoors!
