KLBK Friday Morning Weather Update: October 29, 2021 | KLBK | KAMC

LUBBOCK, TX – KLBK meteorologist Jack Maney has your Friday morning weather update!

Today: Less wind, clear skies and wonderful weather! High of 73 °. Winds NW 15-20 MPH.
Tonight: The wind calms down after sunset. Minimum of 41 °. Winds VAR 0-5 MPH.
Tomorrow: A little warmer, keeping it clear. High of 83 °. Winds SW 10-15 MPH.

What a week of weather in West Texas it has been! A powerful high altitude low gave us a ton of wind this week, and we’re finally almost done with the strong winds we’ve been seeing all week. Highs will recover a bit this afternoon, coming back to the low 70s. Northwest winds will continue to have a cooling effect, but not as strong at around 15-20 mph. Bright sunshine will prevail, and it will be a great weekend!

On Saturday, a weak area of high altitude will favor a sharp warm-up in the low 80s. The skies will remain clear and the winds will blow from the southwest at a speed of 12 to 18 mph.

A weak cold front will arrive early Sunday morning which will cool us down to normal highs in the 60s above and below 70 for Halloween, with the sky remaining clear in the presence of very dry air. Trick or Treat will be very comfortable, with that ideal slight cooling in the air and temperatures in the 50s above or below 60 during the evening.

A much stronger arctic blast is set to arrive around the middle of next week, bringing strong winds and a lot of cloud cover to the region. This post-frontal air should be a bit more saturated than what’s currently in place, and it looks like the odds of rain will rise behind the front for a light, cold rain. Wednesday’s peaks will struggle to emerge from the 1940s, and weak gray cloud cover will make things much more bleak and wintry.

Go out and enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!
