Temperatures this morning start in the upper 60s and extend into the lower 80s. A mild early morning is due as rain moved into West Texas yesterday, but the chance of rain will lessen for the remainder of the morning and more clouds will creep in. Today’s highs will hit triple digits in the heat of the day, even with cloudy skies.
Warm moist air is moving across the southern plains this morning and will continue to bring warmer temperatures and partly cloudy skies. The afternoon high will be in the triple digits and the heat will persist for the rest of the week. Be sure to take your sunscreen if you’re heading to the pool or planning to go out, although the clouds will continue to roll in throughout our morning and last for the rest of the day.
Chances of rain return to the area this afternoon with showers moving through the majority of our area throughout the afternoon. This will likely be a splash and shower event, but there is a chance of localized heavy rain and strong gusty winds. The HRRR makes the chance of rain a bit more widespread with light rain lasting all afternoon and into the evening. A weak cold front tonight will keep the chance of rain in the forecast through the weekend and bring a northerly breeze.
A small chance of showers returns to the forecast this afternoon, but most of the day will be partly cloudy with highs in the triple digits. If you spend your day outside, be sure to lather up the sunscreen, even with cloudy skies, as our UV index will still be at ten. By tomorrow we will have another day with passing clouds and the upper 90s will return to the forecast due to a weak cold front moving in tonight. Chances of rain will last through the weekend before seasonal temperatures hit the middle of next week.
Have a good afternoon!
