Fortnite adds tornadoes in dynamic weather update

FortniteThe latest update brings dynamic weather to the game. Players will now face thunderstorms and tornadoes during their battle royale rounds.

Fortnite added many new features in its final season that drastically changed the tide of battle. Not only have we seen the return of Quad Crashers, which are ATVs that have a myriad of different uses, but Epic introduced Spider-Man’s iconic web shooters, a new slide mechanic, and powerful, crazy SMGs. The addition of dynamic weather continues this trend.

The latest update and its dynamic weather include active tornadoes and thunderstorms. In a press release, Epic detailed these new additions and the abilities they grant to players.

Tornadoes will form randomly across the map and players can use them to soar and move away from battle or towards an objective. Players will not take fall damage after being spat out by a tornado.

Lightning storms also help players, as shocked players will take a bit of damage, but will also receive a speed boost. Players can increase their chances of being struck by lightning by jumping into the water under the storm cloud or by climbing to the highest point possible. Lightning also won’t strike twice, literally. Once players are affected, they will not be affected during this storm.

The new update also includes a new weapon: the rocket pistol. Like Pots of Fireflies, Flare Guns trigger and spread fires that deal continuous damage to any players too close to the flames. They will appear on the map in chests and supplies, as well as on the ground.

The new update is active in Fortnite lobbyists everywhere right now. Feel free to jump into tornadoes at your leisure.
