New Delhi: The meteorological office said there was a possibility of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in Delhi on Friday, with a forecast of mostly cloudy skies for the day.
It was humid in the morning with the minimum temperature standing at 25.1 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of year.
The humidity was recorded at 82%, reported PTI.
The temperature is expected to hover between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius throughout the day, AIR News said.
There was light rain in parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region on Thursday as well, and the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said more rain is likely over the next three days.
The capital Delhi has already recorded 243.5mm of precipitation so far in September, far exceeding the monthly average of 129.8mm of rain. The city typically sees just 58.3mm of precipitation during the first nine days of September, according to the PTI report.
Delhi had recorded 117.7mm of precipitation in the 24-hour span ending at 8:30 a.m. on September 2, the heaviest single-day rain of the month in the past 19 years.
Bombay, Chennai, Calcutta weather forecast
Bombay: The city is likely to see mostly cloudy skies with moderate rain on the first day of the Ganesh festival. While the minimum temperature is expected to be 25 degrees Celsius, the maximum could be around 31 degrees, AIR News reported.
Chennai: The southern metropolis is also expected to have mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging between 26 degrees and 34 degrees.
Calcutta: Moderate rain or thunderstorms are forecast. The sky will be partly cloudy and the temperature will vary from 28 degrees Celsius to around 35 degrees.
