Funeral services for Dale Edward Maddux, 82 from Frederick, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, 921 West Gladstone Avenue in Frederick, with Elder Art Barker as officiant. Interment was held at Spring Hill Cemetery, south of Cooperton, Oklahoma, under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Maddux passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick.
Dale Maddux was born on July 6, 1939 in Bache, a small community 11 kilometers east of McAlester. He attended Haileyville Public School and graduated with the Class of 1958. He immediately entered the United States Marine Corps, but due to hearing problems was medically discharged. . He then moved to California where he trained racehorses for Dale Robertson. In 1965 he married Gloria (Bright), and from this union was born a son, Troy Dale Maddux. He then married Leola Faye “The” (Barker) Blankinship in Durant, Oklahoma. With this union, Dale happily welcomed three more children, Johnny Mark, Kristi and Jimmy Blankinship. The family moved to Dallas, Texas, where he worked as a diesel mechanic until his retirement. In 2010, Dale and Le moved to Frederick to be closer to their family. He loved listening to old records and dancing with Le. He also enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and singing country music. To top it off, he was also an excellent cook.
Dale is survived by two sons, Troy Maddux of Davidson, and Jimmy Blankinship and his wife Carolyn of Troutville, Virginia; a daughter Kristi McCullough of Hobart; three sisters, Ann Miser of Desoto, TX, Norma Standerfer of Arkansas City, Kan., and Wilma Tucker and her husband Tommy of Kiowa; two sisters-in-law, Janice Maddux Henson of Tipton and Charlotte Barker of Haileyville; three grandchildren, Katie Chapman and her husband Chris, Jesse Blankinship and his wife Charlie, and Jeremy Besson and his wife Laura; nine great-grandchildren, Aaron Blankinship, Bryan Blankinship, Kleya Blankinship, Nyla Blankinship, Josilyn Chapman, Carly Chapman, Tanner Thomas, Everly Blankinship and Addison Blankinship; and a host of nieces and nephews and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Burl and Weltha Maddux; his wife, Le Maddux; one son, Johnny Mark Blankinship; two grandsons, Zachary Williams and Micah Blankinship; one son-in-law Earl McCullough; three brothers, Bedford Maddux, Calvin Maddux and Wayne Maddux; and two sisters, Imogene Mass and Effie Mae Smith.
A visit was scheduled for Thursday evening, November 25, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Frederick’s Jackson Funeral Home.
