City to see moderate rainfall; heavy rain in likely locations, IMD says

Mumbai Weather Update: The City Will Experience Moderate Rainfall; heavy rain in likely places, says IMD | PTI

India’s meteorological department forecast Mumbai and sub-regions to see moderate rainfall. However, they forecast heavy to very heavy rain in isolated locations over the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the city will experience moderate rainfall in the next 48 hours with the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated locations.

The IMD issued an orange alert for Mumbai and Thane from Thursday saying the city and adjacent areas could experience heavy rain due to cyclonic circulation.

On Tuesday, September 13, heavy traffic returned to haunt the city, especially on the Western Express Highway (WEH), due to insistent rains that led to gridlock. Traffic jams continued until late afternoon and increased in the evening.

According to the traffic control department, the Andheri metro has been closed due to severe waterlogging, making it inaccessible to motorists. The water was then pumped out to make way for vehicular traffic.
